My Mother-in-law Tried To Drug My Tea To Make Me Look Insane. I Saw Her In The Mirror And Switched The Cups. Then I Announced My Miracle Pregnancy.
A Mother’s Love
Linda always loved taking walks in the city park, and after she adopted little Ethan, she started going there even more often. The six-year-old boy loved running down the paths, chasing pigeons and fooling around, entertaining his mother and most of the passers-by.
Watching her son with affection, Linda couldn’t hold back her tears. Just recently, she couldn’t have even suspected that she would become a mother soon. It happened accidentally after Linda saw a little boy on the street dressed in old clothes that were clearly hand-me-downs.
The child looked at the passers-by with swollen eyes filled with tears, clearly waiting for help. Linda couldn’t just walk by.
Linda took the child’s hand and asked, “Who are you? Why are you alone out here? Where are your mom and dad?”
The boy sniffled, then looked around and said quietly, “I’m Ethan. My mom passed away, and my stepdad doesn’t have time for me.”
Ethan’s words ignited a storm of indignation in Linda’s heart. How is that even possible? A 5-year-old child wandering the streets all alone, and nobody seemed to even care about it.
Linda took Ethan by the hand and led him to the nearest pastry booth, where she bought him a bun and a cup of hot tea. Looking at how eagerly the child devoured the treat, she couldn’t hold back her tears.
That day, she made a vow to herself that she would help Ethan and do everything in her power to find him a new family. Of course, Linda’s friends and acquaintances tried to dissuade her, but the woman stood her ground firmly and didn’t calm down until she got her way.
Past Heartbreak
Of course, she had to invest a considerable amount of time and effort to get custody of Ethan, but it was all worth it in the end. The happiness of motherhood couldn’t be compared to anything Linda had ever felt before.
She still vividly remembered the eyes of the doctor who informed her that she couldn’t have children. Those eyes were filled with sadness and sympathy, but the great disappointment awaited Linda a little later when she told her fiancé that she couldn’t have children.
“What does this mean? I will never have an heir?” David exclaimed. His face turned pale, and his lips quivered with anxiety.
“Darling, we can adopt a child at any time,” Linda tried to rectify the situation, but David had his own take on the matter.
“This is out of the question. I will never agree to raise someone else’s child.”
Linda wanted to say more, but the evening was already completely ruined. It was after that unpleasant conversation that Linda and David started having problems, which seemed to only get worse with each passing minute.
Sure, they tried to rectify the situation, but it didn’t lead to anything good. David left three days before Christmas, slamming the door and not even saying goodbye. Linda had never felt so much pain and disappointment before in her life.
Her fiancé’s betrayal robbed Linda of the most important things: peace of mind and emotional stability. Depression and sleepless nights spent sobbing into a tear-soaked pillow became her routine.
A New Friend in the Park
Linda had to go through a lot before she found the strength to move on, and now, having adopted Ethan, she felt what it was like to be a beloved mother. Ever since then, walks in the park had become a very enjoyable experience for Linda.
She took her son by the hand and then slowly headed towards the park’s exit. At that moment, someone touched Linda’s ankle lightly. Startled, she looked down and saw a small dog with a collar and a muddy curly beard.
Linda didn’t know much about dog breeds, but she suspected that it was a terrier.
“Mom, look at this nice dog! Can we take him home?” Ethan exclaimed immediately.
Linda smiled, then bent down and gently petted the dog on the back of its neck. “It’s a really nice dog, but who is it?”
At that moment, Linda’s fingers found a small tag attached to the dog’s collar. She took a closer look and saw that it had its owner’s phone number engraved on it. The dog’s name was engraved just below it; it was Teddy.
Linda hesitated for a moment, then decided to make the call. She understood that the dog’s owner was probably deeply upset about losing their pet and would gladly have taken Teddy back. After a few rings, Linda heard a pleasant male voice on the other end of the line.
As Linda later found out from their conversation, the owner of the dog was a young businessman named Jacob Nelson. Five days ago, Teddy the terrier managed to slip through a hedge when chasing after a rabbit. Jacob hadn’t seen him since.
The businessman even posted a series of videos on the city’s social media page, appealing to the local residents and offering a reward to whoever would find Teddy.
“Well, I definitely don’t need the reward. I love animals and my son does too,” Linda replied with a smile.
But Jacob didn’t want to hear anything about that and asked her to stay put and not to go anywhere.
H2: Jacob Arrives
Before long, Linda and Ethan saw a huge SUV pull up at the park entrance. A well-built young man in his 30s stepped out. Teddy barked cheerfully and rushed over to him.
“Well hello my dear, where have you been all this time? Chasing squirrels, I presume?” Jacob asked with a smile, pushing the dog away.
The businessman turned his attention to Ethan and his mother. “Thank you so much. If it weren’t for you, I would have never found Teddy. He’s such a rascal.”
Linda smiled. “Oh, you’re welcome. I didn’t really do anything special.”
Even though Jacob appreciated the young mother’s modesty, he still insisted on giving her the reward. He did so right then and there by placing a bank card with the previously mentioned amount into Linda’s purse.
When Linda tried to return the gift, Jacob invited her and Ethan to have tea and croissants with them at a cafe nearby. It was impossible to refuse such an invitation, as everyone in town knew that this place served the most delicious pastries in the world.
Soon, the three of them were sitting at a table watching Teddy chase pigeons in front of the cafe, talking to Jacob about everything in the world. Linda felt an inexplicable fondness for this kind and considerate man. The businessman in turn seemed genuinely interested in Linda and her son.
