She Refused to Care for Her Dying Grandfather. Six Months Later, She Was Shocked
A Long-Awaited Son and a Troubled Marriage
Mr. and Mrs. Morris did not have children for a long time. The woman did everything, but nothing helped, so ten years passed. When the couple had almost lost hope, they had a long-awaited baby boy who was named Mason.
The boy was born weak. He was constantly sick, often being in the hospital, and Mrs. Morris again and again prayed to God to send health and strength to their child. As the years went by, Mason grew up and got married.
Brooke was five years older than him, had an obnoxious temper, and, according to rumors, led a promiscuous lifestyle before marriage. But Mason was so much in love that he did not want to listen to anyone. Immediately after their wedding, the young couple decided to live in the parents’ spacious house for a while until they could find something suitable for them.
Soon, Mason told his parents that Brooke was expecting a baby. He was over the moon, was literally carrying his wife in his arms, and looking forward to the arrival of an heir. But his parents just shook their heads silently.
Brooke often went out of the house in her husband’s absence. To any remarks from his parents, she responded with rudeness. However, they did not dare to complain to their son about Brooke’s behavior so as not to damage their relationship.
But one day, Mrs. Morris couldn’t stand it.
“Son, you should be more strict with Brooke,”
she said.
“She came home drunk from her friends yesterday. How can a pregnant woman drink so much?”
But Mason didn’t like the fact that his mother was judging his wife. Brooke, as always, insinuated to him that she was being undeservedly picked on.
“Brooke said it was her friend’s birthday and she only had half a glass of wine. What’s wrong with that?”
he asked.
“But she and her friend were walking down the street yesterday, staggering around, yelling songs to the whole neighborhood. Could one glass of wine do that?”
The father intervened in the conversation.
“Talk to her. She can’t behave like that while pregnant, or your mother and I don’t want to know you anymore,”
he said.
Mason got angry at his parents, packed his bags, and moved with his wife to live with a friend. Mrs. Morris was distressed and asked her husband to reconcile with their son, but he was adamant. He realized that if they showed weakness now and let their daughter-in-law act as she wanted, things could only get worse.
Mr. Morris tried to explain to his wife that the son was responsible for his actions and that only life could open his eyes to the truth. But his mother felt pity for their son and wanted to cuddle their grandchildren in the future. She finally persuaded her husband to apologize and return her son and daughter-in-law home in exchange for a promise not to interfere in their personal lives anymore.
Brooke returned to the house like a real queen with her head held high and her nose turned up in importance. Next months, they lived each in their own half of the house, trying not to cross or bump into each other. Finally, a beautiful girl was born who was named Lucy.
But Brooke did not want to continue taking part in the baby’s life. She refused to breastfeed the child and soon again began to leave home for long periods of time under various pretexts. Mason at first tolerated it, but one day he could not stand it and reproached his wife for the fact that she completely shifted the care of the child on the shoulders of his parents.
Upon hearing this, Brooke, without explanation, proudly packed her bags and left home.
“Sonny, where is Brooke? The baby’s constantly crying and I need at least a little break and I have a lot to do around the house as well,”
complained Mrs. Morris, exhausted from sleepless nights, to her son.
“Mum, Brooke is gone for good,”
he replied.
Mrs. Morris looked at her son in confusion. She was frightened that Brooke would now take Lucy, but the son quickly reassured his mother, saying that his wife did not want the child.
But Mason himself could not calm down so quickly. After a few days, he decided to seek out his unfaithful wife and persuade her to return. Realizing that it was useless, the mother did not try to dissuade her son, and he went off to look for her.
He found her quickly. She was giggling impudently and stupidly in the company of drinking buddies at the other end of town. Mason got angry and, throwing his wife’s buddies across the room, tried to take Brooke with him.
But the woman desperately resisted. Mason tried to get Brooke to come to her senses and reminded her about the child, but the woman aggressively lashed out and hurled insults at her husband. At that moment, one of Brooke’s drinking companions, who had just woken up, hit Mason on the head with something heavy and the man collapsed on the floor.
