A Child Asks A Waitress For Help In The Hotel: ‘Please, They Are Not My Parents!’

A Suspicious Dinner
A waitress finds the behavior of a little boy at a table with his supposed parents very strange and tries to talk to him. When she takes a napkin from under the boy’s plate and finds a shocking note, her heart races: “Help me please, they’re not my parents.”
Victoria arrived for another day’s work at a restaurant of a roadside hotel. The 23-year-old dreamed of becoming a psychologist but found herself stuck in a routine that wasn’t her choice. Her financial situation forced her to work as a waitress to pay the bills and continue her studies.
The girl entered the kitchen, already tired after an exhausting day at college, only to hear her cranky boss scolding her.
“Come on, Victoria, we haven’t got all night! Put on your uniform and go to the bar. The customers will be arriving soon.”
The girl obeyed, putting on her waitress uniform and heading to the bar to organize the drinks before the guests arrived. But that night there was something peculiar in the air, something Victoria couldn’t quite define that made her feel as if something was about to happen. It was a feeling that accompanied her, making the atmosphere in the hotel more mysterious than usual.
After the drinks had been prepared, the first customers began to arrive at the restaurant. They were guests and travelers just looking for a meal and a place to rest from their journeys. The waitress served them, handing out menus and seating them at the tables. However, sitting at the corner of the restaurant, a couple and a little boy caught her eye.
The young woman looked at the little boy, who seemed sad and uncomfortable, and he kept his head down. The parents, on the other hand, looked cold and rude. Victoria, with her background in child psychology, began to observe the strange dynamics of that family.
The boy’s attitude was in complete contrast to the changes in his parents’ behavior; it was as if he didn’t want to be there. Then the waitress came over to show them the menu, but what was unusual was that the mother’s attitude changed as soon as the girl arrived.
The woman began to smooth the child’s hair and tried to comfort him, saying:
“It’s going to be all right, son. We’ll be at Grandma’s soon, you’ll see. We’ll sleep here tonight and tomorrow we’ll be with her as we agreed, okay?”
The father, despite his shaky legs, also tried to calm the little boy down.
“That’s right, big boy, everything’s going to be fine, you’ll see. You’re excited to see Grandma, aren’t you? But she’s fine, we’ll see her tomorrow.”
It was as if they wanted to show that they were talking normally when the girl arrived at the table. Victoria handed over the menus and said:
“Good evening, here’s the menu. We have a special pasta today with roasted chicken.”
She took her notepad out of her pocket to write down the order, but what bothered her was that the little boy didn’t raise his head to look at her once. The waitress decided to ask.
“And you, dear? Are you all right? I see you’re a bit down. What happened? Is there something bothering you?”
But before the little boy could say anything, his mother replied.
“No, ma’am, it’s nothing. It’s just that my mother is very ill. We’re going to visit her, but Philip here is a bit anxious to see her.”
The father gently added, also as if to stop the boy from speaking to her.
“Yeah, yeah, they’re very close. Our big boy is just a bit down, that’s all.”
Victoria accepted the explanation, said everything was fine, and offered to help if they needed anything. However, something in the behavior of the little boy and his parents made her uneasy. The look on the child’s face indicated that something deeper might be going on there.
