My Husband And His Stepmother Called Me Their “cash Cow” While Sleeping Together. Then He Trapped Me In A Cave To Die For My Money. How Do I Make Sure They Never See Daylight Again?
The Voice from Beyond the Rock
In the midst of my panic, a familiar, horrifying voice echoed from the other side of the boulder. It wasn’t Kevin’s voice.
“You little fool, did you really think you could get away?”
It was Evelyn. She was here too. She had either followed us or, more likely, she had orchestrated this whole trap.
“Why?”
I stammered. Her shrill, cruel laughter rang out, echoing in the dark cave.
“Why? Because you’re too smart dear. You know too much, you’re a threat. I can’t have you alive ruining everything.”
“And Kevin… is he in on this with you?”
“Him?”
She laughed again.
“He’s just a weak-willed man. He loves me and he’ll do anything for me. He’ll grieve for you a little when you’re gone, but he’ll get over it. Your assets will become his, which means they’ll become mine. Everything will be back on the right track.”
So that was it. She was the director of this entire nightmare. Kevin was just her puppet. She was the real monster.
“You won’t get away with this!”
I screamed, my voice filled with hate.
“Someone will find me! Your crimes will be exposed!”
“Who’s going to find you in a desolate place like this? By the time anyone finds you, you’ll be nothing but a pile of bones. So goodbye my dear daughter-in-law. Rest in peace.”
After she spoke, I heard their footsteps fading away. They had left me here alone in the pitch black, in utter despair.
Rescue and Revelation
But just as I was about to give up, I heard a sound—faint but clear. The sound of a police siren getting closer and closer. At first the police siren was just a distant faint wail, but it grew steadily louder, more urgent, like a shot of adrenaline straight to my exhausted body.
Hope, a fragile but fierce flicker of hope, ignited in my mind. Maya. It had to be Maya. She had received my signal.
I struggled to my feet, using the last of my strength to pound on the boulder, screaming until my voice was raw.
“Help! Help me! I’m in here!”
I heard tires screech to a halt nearby. Car doors slammed open, followed by the sound of frantic footsteps and Maya’s desperate cries.
“Anna? Anna where are you?”
“I’m here! In the cave!”
I shouted, my voice breaking with relief and exhaustion.
Immediately I heard the sounds of several men converging on the spot, shouts, and the sharp clang of metal against rock. They were trying to move the boulder. Slowly, a sliver of light pierced the darkness, growing wider and wider.
Finally, with a heavy thud, the boulder was pushed aside. Bright sunlight flooded in, forcing me to squint. Maya’s silhouette rushed in and threw her arms around me.
“Anna! Oh my God, are you okay? You scared me to death.”
I clung to her, my entire body shaking. Tears streamed down my face, but this time they were tears of relief, the tears of someone who had just returned from the brink of death.
“I’m… I’m okay. Thank you Maya, thank you.”
Police officers came in asking about my condition and gently helping me outside. The fresh sea air filled my lungs. I took a deep breath, feeling as if I had been reborn.
Maya explained that while I was on my way to this remote beach, the GPS signal from my dress had suddenly stopped in this isolated location and hadn’t moved for a long time. Sensing something was terribly wrong, she immediately contacted the local police with whom she had already liaised, giving them the coordinates and requesting urgent assistance. Thankfully, they had arrived in time.
“Where are those monsters?”
I asked, looking around the empty beach.
“They ran,”
an officer replied.
“When they heard the sirens they jumped in their car and took off. But don’t worry ma’am, we’ve set up roadblocks on all the access roads. They won’t get far.”
I was taken back to the resort to rest and give a preliminary statement. The recording device hidden under my pillow had captured Kevin’s entire phone conversation the night before, and the recorder disguised as my hair clip had perfectly documented the fake proposal and Evelyn’s taunts outside the cave. It was all irrefutable evidence.
About an hour later we received news: the police had apprehended Kevin and Evelyn as they were trying to flee towards the airport. The news didn’t bring me a sense of triumph, only a hollow feeling. The play was over, but my heart felt so heavy.
