My Son Drugged Me And Committed Me To A Nursing Home To Steal My $850k House. He Told Everyone I Had Dementia, But I Am An Aerospace Engineer And I Remember Everything. How Do I Take Him Down?
“Dad, I told you.”
He answered.
“Did Vanessa buy it through her LLC?”
I asked.
There was a longer silence.
“It’s complicated.”
He replied.
“It’s fraud, Marcus.”
“It’s theft.”
“You drugged me, had me committed, sold my house, and profited from it.”
“Do you understand what you’ve done?”
I said.
“I was trying to help you.”
“You were getting old, living alone in that big house.”
“Something could have happened.”
Marcus replied.
“So you made something happen.”
I said.
“Vanessa said it was for your own good.”
“The house was too much for you.”
“We could use the money to start our life together, and you’d be taken care of.”
He answered.
“Vanessa said.” The truth crystallized. This was her idea.
She’s a real estate agent; she knows about these things.
“She said, ‘Elderly people often don’t realize when they need help, and family has to step in.’”
Marcus said.
“Family has to commit fraud.”
“It’s not fraud.”
“I’m your son.”
“I have a right.”
He replied.
“You have no right to steal from me, Marcus.”
I said.
He hung up. Five minutes later, Vanessa called from Marcus’s phone.
“Mr. Patterson, let’s talk reasonably.”
“Marcus is very upset.”
“He loves you.”
“He was trying to protect you.”
She said.
“By stealing my house?”
I asked.
“By securing your future.”
“Look, the house is sold.”
“It’s done.”
“Fighting this will only cost you money and legal fees.”
“The court will see that Marcus acted in good faith.”
Vanessa answered.
“The court will see fraud.”
I said.
Her voice changed.
“You’re an old man.”
“You had a dizzy spell.”
“You could have another stroke tomorrow.”
“Who’s going to believe you didn’t need help?”
“We have documentation from a licensed physician.”
Vanessa threatened.
“A physician you paid off.”
I responded.
“Be careful what you accuse people of, Mr. Patterson.”
“Slander is a serious offense.”
She said.
“Not as serious as elder abuse, medical fraud, and theft.”
I replied.
“You can’t prove any of that.”
She stated.
“Watch me.”
I said.
She hung up.
