Woman Gave $30 To A Street Girl. 12 Years Later, A Millionaire Rang Her Doorbell
Hopelessness Sets In
It was almost a month before Ashley was discharged from the hospital. She had to use a wheelchair to get around and accept that she had become physically disabled. Just to stabilize her health, the hospital bill had been very high.
This debt reduced Siena’s ability to pay for more advanced care for her daughter. It had taken her years to save everything she could to keep up with the bills, continue to provide primary care for her daughter, and pay off the hospital’s debt. While Siena made sacrifices, Ashley grew up in a wheelchair, becoming a more beautiful young lady.
When the girl’s mother saw how sad she was, it broke her heart, so she launched an online fundraising campaign. The money would all go toward Ashley’s corrective surgery. Even though it was a cause that people were talking about on social networks, very few people actually donated enough to pay for everything that was needed.
The money raised allowed some tests to be done, but no surgery. Siena thought it was over and that nothing else could be done. The future of her daughter was indeed sealed.
She sometimes cried in the bathroom at work whenever she thought of how many opportunities her daughter would miss because of that misfortune. She didn’t know it yet, but one of her good deeds from the past was about to catch up to her.
The Promise Kept
Someone knocked on her door on August 15, 2019, after all hope had been lost. When Siena opened it, she saw a young woman who was well-dressed and attractive. A luxury car was parked in the driveway behind her.
“Hello. I’m sure you won’t recognize me, but I promised you something a while back,”
Said the enigmatic young lady.
She then took out her wallet, which held $30. She took out the notes and handed them to Siena. Siena realized everything at that point.
She looked the young woman in the eyes, and the embarrassed expression from years before had vanished. That hungry, pale, and skinny 10-year-old had grown into a beautiful and healthy young woman in her thirties. Siena hugged her before inviting her inside.
The woman introduced herself as Fanny, but Siena never forgot. She said she’d never forget how the snacks and money she got on the subway that day saved her life. Ashley entered the room in her wheelchair at that moment, and Fanny’s gaze was drawn to her.
Fanny stated that she had experienced good fortune. She had been homeless and hungry, but now she was a successful young business owner. Siena was relieved to see that the girl’s situation had improved.
“You must be blessed. You sure have all the light in the world.”
Siena said to Fanny.
Fanny thanked her and remembered the promise she had made years before. She explained that she found Siena through the Ashley fundraiser.
“I recognized you as soon as I saw your picture. So I decided to come here myself to thank you for helping me when I needed it the most,”
Fanny explained.
“The thirty dollars you gave me at the time saved my life. So I’d like to support you and your daughter right now.”
When Siena heard this, she thanked her and told her that any help was appreciated, but that the surgery would cost $250,000 and that they would most likely need more donations even if the campaign ran for years.
“I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear,”
Fanny said as she took Siena’s hands in hers.
“You won’t need any more donations.”
Siena was dazed for a few seconds before breaking down in tears. Her daughter had been in a wheelchair for so long that she had forgotten what it was like to walk and run, but the young woman yearned to be able to do it all over again. Ashley remained silent as she processed the information.
Did that young lady really have that much money to give to a stranger? Fanny spent the rest of the day with them, listening to their stories and making sure neither mother nor daughter gave up hope.
A Miracle Recovery
A few weeks after, Fanny started paying for all of Ashley’s tests and treatments. Her surgery was successful and was performed at a specialty center in Chicago. The case was covered by several television networks, and the girl’s recovery was closely monitored.
All of Ashley’s physical therapy was excruciatingly painful, but it prepared her body to be back on her feet. Ashley walked on her own for the first time in years. She still needed assistance, but it was only a matter of time before she could walk on her own again.
Fanny held Siena’s hands while she sobbed in disbelief at what was happening.
“It’s a miracle, my God,”
She exclaimed, delighted.
Ashley was walking without assistance and with surprising ease for someone who had been in a wheelchair for so long after nine months. She walked with assurance and purpose. Siena had no idea that a simple action from the past would restore her daughter’s life to normalcy.
Sometimes Siena remembered Howard and imagined that he, too, was witnessing everything. If you liked this story, I ask you to please leave a like, and this other video appearing on the screen will probably move you as well. Have a wonderful day, and I’ll see you in the next video!
